Wessex Baroque Collective
A Professional Early Music Ensemble for the South West
Founded in 2024 by harpsichordist David Gostick and violinist Emma-Marie Kabanova, Wessex Baroque Collective has quickly established a reputation for artistic excellence and imaginative programming. Based in the South West, it is the region’s only professional early music ensemble, providing opportunities for local specialist musicians and access to historically informed performance for regional audiences. Operating as a flexible collective, the ensemble collaborates with additional artists as needed and is well placed to undertake choral projects through David Gostick’s work with the Bournemouth Sinfonietta Choir.

Continuing Voices Tour
Wessex Baroque Collective and soprano Angela Hicks presents a compelling programme celebrating the music of women across the centuries. Featuring works by Baroque composers Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and Isabella Leonarda, alongside newly commissioned pieces for period instruments, this concert brings past and present into vivid dialogue.
Blending voice, violin, cello, lute and harpsichord, the ensemble offers an intimate and engaging performance, enriched by spoken insights that bring the music to life. From expressive cantatas to bold contemporary reimaginings, the programme explores themes of resilience, identity and creativity, highlighting the enduring relevance of women’s voices in music.
A distinctive and thought-provoking concert experience, suitable for a wide range of audiences.
Please note: this programme includes material exploring themes of baby loss and grief.
This concert is supported by the Continuo Foundation.
