Rural Recitals
Professional Chamber Music for Rural Areas
The Rural Recital Series was founded in 2022 by violinist Emma-Marie Kabanova and guitarist Colin Thompson to address the lack of access to high-quality classical music in rural areas. Many residents are unable or reluctant to travel to larger towns at night or to pay high ticket prices, yet there are warm local communities centred around village churches and halls. The series brings professional-level chamber music directly to these communities. In 2024, pianist Richard Hall, former director of the Dorset Rural Music School, joined the project.
