Concert Series
Highlights from Emma-Marie's tenure as artistic director of Globus Music ensemble.
Emma-Marie founded Globus Music in 2014 initially for one concert celebrating the life of William Shakespeare in music. The concert took place in an open air theatre in Moscow and featured music by Henry Purcell, Vaughan Williams and Felix Mendelssohn and raised money for charity. The following year the ensemble was joined by singers and dancers form the Bolshoi Theatre to create another open air performance; a "mash up" of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream using music by Prokofiev and Purcell. For many years Emma-Marie worked together with prima ballerina Joy Womack to create ballets with Globus Music and dancers from Moscow's theatres to raise money for charities supporting vulnerable children.
In 2017 the ensemble began focusing exclusively on historically informed performance practices and had the honour of being the first period ensemble to give a historically informed performance of Handel's Messiah under Emma-Marie's direction. Globus Music was regularly invited to perform at the Residence of the British Ambassador and presented opera gala concerts, a "Messiah Highlights" concert with soloists from the Bolshoi Theatre opera company as well as concerts of chamber music.
Between 2019 and 2020 the ensemble performed at a monthly concert series at St Andrew's Church in Moscow and traveled to Istanbul to give a concert at the Bach in the Garden Festival.
